◊◊ The FFG Soiree at La Parilla’s in Powder Springs (on Thursday, November 15) was a blast! The food was good and the company even better. Jeff brought several interesting lists: the top 100 favorite characters of the century, of the decade, and the top favorite archetypes, so you know the discussion started fast and furious. I was a bit pissed because my favorite character of all time was nowhere in sight (Michael Valentine, STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND), but my favorite archetype (Frankenstein) was on that list and made up for it. (Hamlet was #1 on the archetype list, by the way). There was also much personal discussion on muses, writing processes, characterization and dealing with the dreaded block (or muse gone dry) . AND what we were all personally working on at home, and why, and any advice we could get. We were so into what we were doing, we didn’t notice La Parilla was closing until the servers were putting chairs upside down on the tables near us. Hehe. Jeff, Jennie, and Stephe attended. The rest of you missed it. Ha!

On the Donald Maass Literary Agency website is a new page called “What We’re Looking For This Month.” Check it out, because I do see a few things that may pertain to folks in our group. Not to mention… imagine my surprise when I read the SECOND bullet point, especially since I already sent my query and sample pages off to an agent at DMLA last week. Ha! Close enough.
GEORGIA WRITERS has a new sleek, aerodynamic website. Very nice.

Ho ho ho!
Hope all of my fellow FFGers are having Happy Holidays! I look forward to seeing you at the meeting!
I Just thought it was sort of sad that there were still no messages on the FFG Spot after all this time. So, thought I’d write one.
Thanks for creating this place for us, Stephe.
Teresa Claus
Hey, Stephe!
Two suggestions for the FFG Spot.
Do you think you could move the comment section up a bit, maybe so it appears right after the “current” meeting info? It may be that everyone has forgotten that it is here, since this is at the bottom.
Also, would it be possible to make this column a little wider on the page?
That would be a “no” to both questions, T. The journal style didn’t allow that.
As you can see, NOW I’ve solved the wider column problem by changing to a new journal style altogether. So, yay!
I have no control over the comment section, however.
